Federal and State Financial Aid

Students may be eligible for a variety of grants and scholarships, including Pell Grants, Oklahoma’s Promise and Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grants.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for all types of financial aid. This form is available starting October 1 of each year. Federal student loans are not available for career training at Kiamichi Tech.

Kiamichi Tech’s FAFSA school code is 009204 (It will show Wilburton, OK, but this code applies to all Kiamichi Tech campuses.)

  • Students attending Kiamichi Tech may be eligible to receive federal financial aid from the Department of Education if they:

    • Demonstrate financial need
    • Have received a high school diploma or an equivalent such as a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or completed secondary school in a home-school setting
    • Be enrolled as a regular student seeking a degree or certificate in a daytime program that is more than 600 clock hours
    • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
    • Sign the statement of educational purpose and a certification statement on overpayment and default included in the FAFSA
    • Register with the selective service if required
    • Make satisfactory progress
    • Demonstrate eligibility

Kiamichi Tech does not have any influence on a student’s financial aid eligibility. An individual’s financial aid eligibility calculation considers several components, which includes financial need, the difference between direct educational expenses and family contribution, and earned income from the tax year two years prior. Family contribution equals parental contribution for dependent students in conjunction with the student’s contribution.

  • The net price calculator provides a preliminary estimate of federal and institutional aid eligibility. The estimates are based on the award policies of the current academic year and are subject to change.

In order to use the calculator, you will need information about your income, taxes and some other financial obligations. In addition, you will need information about your assets, including savings, investments, home equity, and any other assets you may have.

    Use the Net Price Calculator

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online, is used to apply for a Federal Pell Grant. Completing a FAFSA application will also be required for Oklahoma's Promise eligibility. Complete your FAFSA soon after October 1 for the upcoming school year. A new FAFSA must be submitted each school year.

Step 1. Apply for a FSA ID and password

If completing a FAFSA and you have not created an FSA ID and password, apply at Create FSA ID.

Step 2. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

FAFSA applications can be completed online at www.studentaid.gov. Kiamichi Tech’s school code is 009204 (It will show Wilburton, OK, but this code applies to all Kiamichi Tech campuses.)

Student Aid Reports (SARs) take approximately three weeks to process and review. You may be asked for additional documentation, so please check your email frequently.

    Step 3. Award Notification

Kiamichi Tech’s Financial Aid Office will send you an award notification indicating the amount of Pell Grant you are eligible to receive.

  • Once a student is packaged for financial aid, the student is given a Financial Aid Award Notification which shows the amount going toward tuition and the amount going to the student. Funds in excess of tuition will be paid to the student in the form of a check. Financial Aid staff at the campus will inform the student when their check is ready to be picked up.

Students are paid the first disbursement of their Federal Financial Aid at the beginning of the first pay period, approximately 4–6 weeks after their start date. Remaining payments are based on satisfactory grade average and attendance for the previous pay period. Pay period dates are different for each student depending on the career major enrolled and start dates. Upon receipt of the Financial Aid Award Notification, the student is issued a list of financial aid disbursement dates.

Students on a LOA will not be disbursed (Pell, OTAG, FSEOG, etc.).

  • In general, you must maintain enrollment and make satisfactory academic progress to receive a Federal Pell Grant. Additionally, you will have to fill out the FAFSA form every year you’re in school to stay eligible for federal student aid.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) means the student is proceeding in a positive manner toward fulfilling certificate requirements in the expected length of time. Students who do not meet the required SAP standards may become ineligible for financial aid.

The Financial Aid Handbook provides specific definitions and guidelines for maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
