WILBURTON, Okla. – Colette Harper, retired Kiamichi Tech educator, took the oath of office to serve on the Kiamichi Tech Board of Education at the Board meeting in June. Harper will represent Zone 6 of the Kiamichi Tech District, which includes Atoka and surrounding communities.
“We are excited to have Ms. Harper join our Board of Education,” said Superintendent Shelley Free. “She has spent her career as an educator making a difference in the lives of students; and, I know she will continue to do so as a member of our Board of Education."
Mrs. Harper has been a staple of the Kiamichi Tech, Atoka Campus, for 40 years. She has been recognized and received awards at the regional, state, and national levels for her professional and teaching excellence. One of her professional highlights includes being recognized by the AVA-Kellogg Foundation as one of the top five programs in the country.
“I recently read that one’s legacy as an educator is determined by what your students do,” said Harper. “I hope to continue to have a ripple effect in the lives of all Kiamichi Tech students.”
