Aviation Technology at Kiamichi Tech is designed for students looking to make their mark in the dynamic fields of manned aircraft and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This blended program provides a comprehensive education, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare you for a successful career in aviation maintence. 

What You'll Learn

Students will explore core engineering principles and essential aviation maintenance practices, including:

  • Aircraft Electricity & Avionics: Understand the intricacies of aircraft electronic systems, batteries, charging systems, and more.
  • Blueprint Interpretation & Corrosion Management: Learn to read and interpret aviation blueprints and identify and treat corrosion to ensure aircraft safety and longevity.
  • Fluid Line Fabrication: Gain hands-on experience in fabricating and maintaining fluid lines critical to aircraft operation.
  • Foundational Knowledge: Study basic physics, aviation math, key definitions, and the navigation of maintenance publications and reports.
  • Weight & Balance: Master the skills to prepare aircraft for weighing, calculate weight and center of gravity, and record balance data accurately.
  • UAS Operational Skills: Develop the operational skills required for unmanned aircraft systems, a rapidly growing sector in aviation.

Career Opportunities

This program equips you with the skills needed for various career paths in the aviation industry. Graduates will be well-prepared to pursue roles in aviation maintenance, UAS operations, and more. You'll also be eligible to earn industry-recognized certifications such as:

  • UAS Remote Pilot Certificate - FAA 107
  • ATEC Choose Aerospace
  • CertTEC Aviation Basic

College Credit

Kiamichi Tech has collaborated with Carl Albert State College to allow students to earn transferable credit toward an Associate of Applied Science degree. Pending approval by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
